Albania and Kosovo, in the joint meeting of the two governments, which was held on June 20, 2022, in Pristina, have signed a memorandum of cooperation for the feasibility study and Project-idea for the railway line Durrës – Pristina.
According to the signed agreement, the whole procedure for the selection of the Consultant will be done on the basis of the Albanian public procurement legislation, while the Consultant will have a period of 14 months from the date of signing the contract to carry out the feasibility study and project idea.
The total cost for the preparation of the Feasibility Study and the development of the Project – Idea for the construction of the railway line Albania – Kosovo, is expected to be around 1,980,000 (one million nine hundred and eighty thousand) Euros.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy of the Republic of Albania will cover the sum of 1,000,000 (one million) Euros, or about 51% of the total cost, while the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure of the Republic of Kosovo will cover the sum of 980,000 (nine hundred eighty thousand) Euros, or 49% of the total cost.
The Albanian Railways will be responsible for the procurement procedures and the selection of the Consultant that will carry out the Feasibility Study and project idea for the Pristina-Durres railway line.
