The information/awareness campaign for the safety of rail transport and the new project for connecting the cities of Tirana, Durrës and Rinas International Airport by train took place in the premises of the company INSIFA Sh.p.k. This entity operates along the railway track in the area of Maminas, has more than 60 employees and is engaged in the production of chocolates and sweets.
In the meeting organized by the experts of the Albanian Foundation for the Development of Local Capacities (ALCDF), contracted by the EBRD consultants, personal members from the administration as well as employees of the production departments participated.
The company has many employees who live in the surrounding area and as part of the community they have a direct benefit from the construction of the railway. For this reason, the experts paid attention to their information regarding the safety rules of rail transport, the necessary signage and the implementation of the plan of measures both for the period of the construction site and for the phase of putting the line into operation.
During the discussions, the employees expressed great interest in the possibility of assigning a railway station to Maminas. According to them, this station would facilitate not only the transportation of passengers but also that of goods for businesses and farmers. Of course, this is seen as a convenience of transportation for vacationers during the summer who frequent the beach of Lalëzi Bay.
In parallel with the information and awareness of a significant part of the businesses, public and educational institutions that exercise the activity along the track, the contractor of the Albanian Railway is proceeding with high intensity on the ground in the implementation of the new project that connects Tirana with Durrës and the Airport of The Renaissance.
