Today, on 03.02.2021, the project contract for the rehabilitation of the Durrës railway line – Tirana Public Transport Terminal and the construction of a new line at Mother Teresa Airport was signed. On this occasion, the construction phase begins for the complete replacement of our infrastructure in order to rehabilitate 37 km and build a new 5.7 km line.
The contract was signed by the Administrator of the Albanian Railways JSC HSH, Mr. Ani Dyrmishi and the official representatives of the international company INC srl to advance the perspective of the railways.
Our railway transformation starts today with the full support of the donor “European Bank for Reconstruction and Development” and the EU Delegation in Albania as well as the promoter of the project, the Minister of the line Mrs. Belinda Balluku.
The Project Contract provides for the implementation of civil works, supervision and project management within 30 months.
To this project, which since 2017 has received the international evaluation of the best project by financial institutions, will be added the expected successes for the implementation of strategic projects, the rehabilitation of the line between Albania and Montenegro; that of Albania to Kosovo, our railway connection with the Republic of Northern Macedonia and the construction of the Albania-Greece line, to connect us with the European Union and beyond.
