The topic of today’s informative meetings in Vors and Kamz municipalities was the rehabilitation of the railway network that connects Tirana with Durrs and the construction of a new segment that connects these two cities with the international airport of Rinas.
Representatives of the Albanian Foundation for the Development of Local Capacity (ALCDF) and the Network for the Empowerment of Women in Albania (AWEN), hired by HBMC as part of the EBRD project for “Empowerment of Civil Society for the Promotion of Sustainable Railway Transport in Albania,” met with representatives of two of the local units located along the railway network where the work will be done.
During the conversation with the specialists from the Department of Urban Planning and Information in the Municipality of Kamza, a concrete cooperation plan was agreed upon with the goal of informing the interest groups that are directly affected by the railway network’s construction phase.
Civil society representatives emphasised the importance of increasing residents’ awareness of the impact that the project for the rehabilitation of the Tirana-Durra railway and its branching with the Rinas airport will have, both directly and indirectly.
The importance of identifying as many vulnerable groups as possible and finding appropriate ways to inform them about the project and anticipated changes was emphasised in Vora, in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Service and Economic Assistance.
